Travis Alber

Travis is an award-winning User Experience Manager with 20 years in product design. She has managed creative teams in both web and app worlds - tackling problems in absurdly complex and ambiguous domains. Travis is currently a senior manager at Google, owning the Cloud Platform UX, including the design system team, a horizontal group supporting 2500 engineers and designers across 160+ products. Her focus is on Inclusive Design, AI, templates, patterns, data visualization and other horizontal efforts, where her team of 18 delivers more accessible patterns and components for the Cloud Design System.

Prior to Google, Travis was an SVP at Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness, a healthcare ad agency specializing in digital content for doctors and patients. She also spent a handful of years as an entrepreneur focused on publishing innovation, building products that offered readers paragraph-level discussions within books. In the early years of the Internet, Travis worked at Cisco, in training research and development, and at Organic with clients like Macy’s, Playstation, and Dodge.

Travis writes articles about UX on Medium, and has contributed a chapter on social reading to Book: A Futurist’s Manifesto. She has an MA in Interactive Multimedia, and her work has been recognized by the Webby Awards, NPR, Wired magazine, The Utne Reader, and the W3 Awards.
